Impact Lab: put a number on the container you did not buy.

Sustainability claims in packaging are usually adjectives. This is arithmetic. Choose what happens to your containers, set a quantity, and the Reclaim Receipt totals the virgin plastic, steel, carbon, process water and landfill airspace that stays out of the system — with the assumptions published underneath so you can check them.

Short answer

Pick a route, set a quantity, read the receipt. Per 275-gallon container reused: 187 lb CO2e, 42 lb HDPE, 88 lb steel, 92 gal water and 1.9 cu yd of landfill avoided.

The calculator

Three routes, six metrics, one receipt.

Everything updates live. Nothing is stored, nothing is sent anywhere, and the batch code is generated from your inputs rather than from a server.

Questions

The Impact Lab, answered.

01What is a Reclaim Receipt?
The printed-receipt panel the calculator produces. It totals what a given batch of containers keeps out of the system and gives the batch a reference code so you can quote it in an email or a report. Every code is deterministic — the same route and quantity always produce the same code.
02Which route should I pick?
Reconditioned and reused if the containers go straight back into service after washing. Rebottled if the bottles are replaced but the cages are kept. Reclaimed to material if the containers are genuinely at end of life and are being recycled rather than reused.
03Why does rebottled save less than reconditioned?
Because a rebottled container still needs a new 42-pound HDPE bottle. The savings come entirely from the steel cage and pallet that stay in service. Reuse keeps both.
04Can I trust these numbers for reporting?
For internal planning and business cases, yes. For external ESG or Scope 3 disclosure, request the component-level worksheet so your team can substitute their own emission factors and document the assumptions properly.
05Are transport emissions included?
No. Freight is excluded from the avoided total, which makes the figures conservative rather than flattering. A container that travels 300 miles to be reused still avoids the vast majority of what manufacturing a replacement would have cost.
